Artist Residency Portfolio
I am a visual artist working in abstract painting with oil pastels and mixed media. My practice centers on listening, presence, and connection to place, translating lived experience—light, sound, memory, and environment—into color, rhythm, and form through sustained observation rather than representation.
I approach painting as a process of attention. Rather than depicting subjects literally, I allow form, palette, and movement to emerge slowly in response to atmosphere and duration. My work is shaped by synesthetic perception, through which sound and emotion register as color, and by a long-standing interest in how light and stillness influence perception.
Artistic Practice
My practice is place-responsive and process-driven. I work through extended periods of observation, allowing environments to guide both pace and composition. Landscapes are not treated as imagery to be captured, but as presences to be encountered—shaping the work through light, scale, silence, and temporal change.
I typically work on small to medium-scale canvases, valuing intimacy, portability, and sustained focus. My materials are minimal and well suited to contemplative, site-responsive work.

Public Context & Visual Storytelling
In addition to my studio practice, I have experience in visual storytelling and public media contexts centered on listening, empathy, and everyday experience. This work informs how I think about pacing, attention, and audience, and supports my interest in creating artwork that invites reflection and connection.
Residency projects are approached as focused, studio-based painting work. Any media experience I bring serves only to support thoughtful documentation and public understanding of the work, not to define the project itself.
