I’m Jen Bechem I'm an interdisciplinary artist, interviewer, and filmmaker translating conversation into color.

You share your story.
I listen for emotion, rhythm, energy,

and what lives between the words.
I create in color, movement, painting, and film.

Jennifer Bechem is an Austin-based interdisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and creator of Jujubeegees. Her work transforms human stories, emotions, and sounds into vibrant abstract paintings, animations, and live experiences.

Through her signature interview-and-painting practice, Jennifer invites people into thoughtful, often playful conversations and translates what she hears into color, shape, and movement. The result is both an engaging performance and a one-of-a-kind artwork celebrating the person behind the story.

Jennifer is the creator of High Light, Human Light, an Austin PBS pilot exploring human connection through conversation, painting, and animation. She also created and hosted How to Happy: A Traveling Art Show, a 17-episode series broadcast on Austin Public Channel 16.

Her work has been supported by the City of Austin's Nexus Grant and recognized with a Telly Award. She has brought her participatory art practice to festivals, community gatherings, and live events.

At the heart of Jennifer's work is a simple idea: everyone has a story worth listening to, and something beautiful can happen when we take the time to hear it.

then I interviewed her and painted her abstract portrait.

She has a delightful story.
